| Lifeline - Monday Nights 7:00 PM You may have heard the statement, "Once an addict, always an addict" used to describe someone that has been addicted to drugs or alcohol. Secular drug and alcohol support groups and rehab programs use this phrase as one of their primary statements of belief. We, as Christians, know this statement cannot possibly be true. John 8:34-36 tells us that Jesus came to set us free from these chains of addiction. Lifeline is a group of men and women, young and old that come together to share what they have experienced in overcoming life controlling issues. Some have a history of drug addiction. Others have suffered through eating disorders. Many have issues with depression. The point of the group is to let each other know that they are not alone in their struggles. God has not left us alone on this earth to deal with things on our own. Not only does He make Himself available for Spiritual comfort, He has given us each other so that we may rely on each other in times of weakness and distress. James 5:16 clearly states that we should admit to our weaknesses and allow others to pray for us so that we may gain strength over the things that can destroy us. Praying for one another, sharing our burdens with one another, celebrating with one another, and helping one another. That's what Lifeline is all about. |
